A picture of you in one of the pictures is required as proof that you went. Your report can be done in either MS Word or PowerPoint. You must save your receipt as proof that you went to the museum. 20 points of classwork extra credit possible if you do a really good job! You must have an MLA works cited if you use an outside source other than the notes you take at the museum. The last day to turn in this extra credit will be Monday, January 23, 2012. This day has been extended to Friday, January 23, 2012 to let you take advantage of Martin Luther King Weekend. You may also add to your extra credit by reporting on the new Dinosaur Hall at the Natural History Museum! Do the same thing as with the minerals. Report on 5 dinosaur specimens that you view. What kind of plate boundary is the San Andreas Fault? What two plates are on either side of this fault? How does the motion of the San Andreas Fault in the northern section near San Francisco compare to the motion of the San Andreas Fault in Central California near Parkfield and how does this compare to the motion along the Fault in the southern section near Los Angeles and Palm Springs? Does the fault in these areas have major strong earthquakes, or is the motion gentle in a motion seismologists refer to as “Creep?”

  • If you are absent for the Pasadena Topographic Map Lab, you can go to the Google Earth Library to download the Pasadena Topographic Map in to Google Earth. Scroll down the page and click on the link “Download with Google Earth.” This will add the .KML file to your computer and Google Earth will automatically launch. You will want to search for La Cañada and then download the Pasadena Quadrangle Map by clicking inside the blue boundaries portrayed by the KML file in Google Earth.
  • Due to illness and being out all of this week, I have decided to cancel the chapter 3 test. We now will move on in to chapter 4!
